How is it July already?

So far, quite a lot has happened in my life from starting a new job to finding exciting ways to grow creatively and slowly embarking on new avenues for my art. Of course, I have also grown more as a person and I continue to learn and change as the year goes by.

The realization hit me this past weekend so I decided to include in this post some of my favourite things so far from this year.

1. I will start off with one of my absolute favourite MV and song from Agust D. and Woosung, feat. the late Ryuichi Sakamoto. The video is part of Suga's journey which was released on Disney+ earlier this spring. Thank you to the user below for creating this video for YouTube.

As always, I was immensely touched by the lyrics, the melody, the arrangements used to bring to life such deep emotions that permeate most of our lives. Agust D. is really a musical genius in every form and I look forward to the day when I will watch him perform live on stage.

Please enjoy this incredible performance of "Snooze":

2. I don't think I have ever mentioned it but I am a big fan of The Rose. Their journey is really inspiring to me as they had and still have to work so hard to get recognition for their talent in the industry. I often listen to their live performances because I think they are better than the recorded ones. They truly have a unique flair on stage and Woosung's vocal tone is a stand out among many other artists. #therose

Here are some of my favourite performances:

3. Mamamoo's cover of 사랑 at the KBS Immortal Songs 2 programming. I watched many of their performances on that show but this song really touched me the most. #mamamoo

Here it is:

4. Various Korean illustrators. I really love Korean art and illustration and more and more are becoming known outside Korea as they create IG pages and they slowly promote their works.

Sadly, most of the ones I like only sell their items in Korea so, when I visit, I will be sure to check them out in person. Some focus on Minhwa art, others on general illustration of Korean traditions (clothing, art, historical items, etc).

5. Since it's not good to end on a 4, the 5th one would be lineart tattoos. I am dying to get my 3rd tattoo so I am currently looking into this.

The fun discoveries continue this year with these great comebacks from some of my favourite Korean singers.

First on the list we have the unmatched Hwasa! She has been an icon in the industry for many years now and she recently signed with PNation, which I think was a smart move on her part. Her first song called "I love my body" is probably one of my favourite songs she ever released because of its vibe but also its positive message for audiences around the world. The entertainment industry is so toxic as it focuses so much on being unhealthily skinny to fit these unrealistic standards. Hwasa always fought against it. As someone who is also not on the super skinny side, I find her and others admirable as they have the courage to stand up and be proud of their looks.

Her song is super super fun, great to dance to and I hope its message will resonate so that everyone can become more accepting and respectful of each other.

The next comeback that made me super happy is the one by 악뮤 with their "Love Lee" album, a play on words on their last name. Super cute and happy to see them making music together again. Love Lee is almost the "sequel" to their 200% song from almost 10 years ago!!! Their music is very good as they are both so talented.

The Fall season is only just beginning and I look forward to its wonders. In the meantime I hope we can all find the strength to pursue our own dreams with passion and to never give up!
