This month is dedicated to the amazing women in our lives and, most of all, to my mother. Where I come from, March 8th is not only Women’s Day but also Mother’s Day and it’s a day of celebration. Women receive gifts and flowers from their male counterparts and society overall acknowledges the powerful impact women carry.

Women are, to this day, still struggling to prove themselves at work (less than before but still it’s a struggle) and they are often taken for granted at home by their children and/or their partners. This doesn’t always happen because the other parties fail to recognize their worth but more so because women, by nature, tend to be the caregivers and often take on a lot more than are asked to do in order to make everyone happy.

Balancing out self-care with being well invested is something that I also continually work on improving.

I want to dedicate this post to us, women, who fight to get ahead in life, albeit frequently fighting a losing battle. I also want to dedicate this to the amazing men that some women have had the privilege of meeting who support them unconditionally.

My mother is a prime example of endurance, extreme sacrifice and unfairness. She worked hard in life to get where she did but then also lost a lot. It is not easy to have grown up watching what she had to endure from others who took advantage of her generosity and kind heart. I am slowly learning to let go, to heal, to accept what I cannot change and focus on aspects of the future that I can change.

This is for us, ladies!!! We need and deserve to be celebrated for being women, for the ability to bring life into the world and for having infinite patience to tailor to everyone but ourselves.

Happy International Women’s Day!!!!
