The Untamed 陈情令
There are few instances in life when I can say I am glad to be alive to witness something. "The Untamed" is one of those moments.
Probably most people have never heard of it but this Chinese drama based off the danmei universe and story created by Mo Xiang Tong Xiu is spectacular in every sense.
I can confidently say so far in my life, this is the best drama I have ever seen (sorry, it does beat most k-drama).
The beauty, scenery, set decor, dialogue, unconditional love, loyalty, sacrifice, honor, pursuit of justice permeate every layer of the story.
The story took me on a rollercoaster ride of emotions while at the same time, filling my heart with love and slowly healing scars life imprinted in me.
Despite the ending, it left an enormous feeling of hope and endless renewal and you know that everything is going to be alright in the end.
The actors deserve a standing ovation for the portrayal of their characters. I have gained knowledge on incredible artists from China. Xiao Zhan's performance of one of the main characters in the story, Wei Wuxian, truly left me speechless. I tip my hat off to him for taking on such a role and carrying it flawlessly throughout the story. Alongside him, Wang Yibo delivered the perfect balance through his character, Lan Wangji. Watching those two together is like watching the perfect harmony and balance of yin and yang.
