Jimmy Brown Concert

Finally 2.5 years later I have come full circle and attended the live concert of Jimmy Brown with Rovv.

Whenever I think back at the COVID years, I feel as if I am stepping into the twilight zone. Were you really isolated at home with an 8 pm curfew? Were we really not allowed to see anyone? Seeing how everyone gathers today with no protection whatsover makes me think, for a brief second, that COVID was not real. Unfortunately, I got super sick after the concert so COVID is definitely here to stay in one version or another.

Back on topic....it was a sad evening somewhere during the gloomy winter of 2021 when I came across Jimmy Brown on a random K- R'n'B playlist on YouTube. I was not even in my living room when I heard "I won't give up" and I was so impressed by his vocals, I immediately went back to see who sang that. This is how I discovered Jimmy Brown. I grew to like many of his songs which led me to message him out of the blue in the spring of 2022 asking if I could interview him for my website, and also part of the Honorary Reporter Program. Back then he was still an independent artist so he agreed to let me interview him on Zoom. You can find that entire interview on my site.

Then Jimmy, Rovv and Sweet the Kid announced their worldtour in 2023 with Montreal on the list. I couldn't be happier as I would finally get the chance to meet him in person. The concert got posponed from May until November and here we are. I bought the VIP pass as it would have been the only way to actually talk to him in person. He, in fact, recognized my name and both him and Rovv were super sweet in person. To be honest, having seen so many videos of them online, it felt no different in person. They look exactly the same. The meet and greet was fun and we got to pose with them too.

The concert itself met my expectations, their voices are truly magical to listen to. The ease with which Jimmy can reach those high notes truly denotes to the natural talent he was born with. It was a pleasure listening to them in person. The venue was quite packed and there was lots of screaming going on but I did my best to record what I could and will post some videos below for fun :)

Thank you again to both Jimmy and Rovv for coming to Montreal.
